Deep cleaning vs regular cleaning: what is the difference?

What does a regular clean include?

Every regular visit covers the rooms you use, for $180 for 2 bed · 2 bath · up to 1,000 sq ft + GST. In the kitchen that is the counters and surfaces, the sink, the stovetop and the outside of the appliances. In the bathrooms it is the toilets, showers, tubs, sinks and mirrors.

Through the rest of the home it is dusting the surfaces we can reach, the bedrooms and living areas, vacuuming carpets and rugs, mopping the hard floors, and the trash and bins.

That list is the whole job. Baseboards, trim, sills and grout belong to a deep clean, and inside the oven, fridge and cabinets are add-ons with their own prices. Clearing dishes and clutter before we arrive leaves the visit for cleaning.

What does a deep clean add?

A deep clean is $299 for 2 bed · 2 bath · up to 1,000 sq ft + GST and adds five things to the regular list: baseboards, door frames and trim, window sills and tracks, detailed scrubbing of bathroom grout, and detailed dusting of the surfaces a routine visit passes over.

It also reaches behind appliances that move safely on their own wheels or feet. We do not lift or unhook anything that could damage a floor, a hose or a water line, and we tell you on the day if we leave one in place.

A deep clean does not include the appliance interiors. Inside the oven and inside the fridge are add-ons at $30 each, inside cabinets $20 and interior windows $10 per window. Pick 3 or more of them and 10% comes off the total.

Which one should I book first?

Book the deep clean first if nobody has done the baseboards, the trim and the grout in a while. If the home is already on a routine, start with the regular clean. When you are unsure, tell us what you see and we will suggest one.

A first visit, a home after a renovation, or a place you have just taken over all point to the deep clean.

Booking the wrong one costs you in one of two ways. A deep clean you did not need yet costs $299. A regular visit leaves worn trim as it was, because trim is not on the regular list.

How much does each one cost?

Each one has a flat price for the job. A regular clean is $180 and a deep clean is $299, both for 2 bed · 2 bath · up to 1,000 sq ft + GST. Only the regular clean has recurring discounts: 20% off weekly, 15% off every two weeks and 10% off monthly.

On a biweekly schedule, the regular clean is $153 a visit. The deep clean has its own saving: pick 3 or more of inside oven, inside fridge, inside cabinets and interior windows & tracks and 10% comes off the total.

How often does a home need a deep clean?

It depends on the home, and we do not set a fixed interval. Pets, shoes worn indoors, cooking, a wood stove, damp and the number of bathrooms all change how fast dirt builds up. Book one when your regular visits no longer keep the baseboards, trim and grout clean.

Look for grout that stays dark after a routine scrub, dust on the trim and the tops of door frames, grit in the window tracks, and a bathroom that smells clean on the day of the visit but not the day after.

A home cleaned weekly or every two weeks needs a deep clean less often than a home cleaned monthly.

What is not included in either clean?

Neither clean includes the inside of closets and storage, which both move cleans include. Wall spot cleaning is only in a move-in clean. That work needs an empty home, where every surface can be reached. Carpet steam cleaning is in neither clean, and we quote it on request.

Vacuuming is part of both cleans. Steam cleaning depends on the carpet, which is why it is quoted. Laundry is an add-on on a regular clean and is not sold with a deep clean. A balcony or patio is an add-on on a move clean only.

Each service page lists the same tasks room by room for its own clean: included, added by that clean, or an add-on. Read it before you book, so the visit follows the list you agreed to.
